Pastor’s Welcome
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Welcome to St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church here in Evanston, Wyoming! Whether you are a lifelong parishioner, new to the area, or simply searching for a place to encounter God, I want you to know you have a home here.
Our parish is more than a building — it is a family of faith, centered on the Eucharist and committed to living out the Gospel. Each week, we gather to worship, to be strengthened by the Word of God, and to be sent forth to serve our community with love and compassion.
I invite you to join us for Mass, to grow with us in prayer, and to share your gifts in the life of our parish. Together, let us walk as disciples of Jesus Christ, guided by the example of St. Mary Magdalen, who loved the Lord with her whole heart.
Please know of my prayers for you and your family. May Christ’s peace be with you always.
In Christ,
Fr. Glen Szczechowski
Pastor
Weekly Letter
Friends in Christ, November 9, 2025 National Vocations Awareness Week was from Nov. 2 – 8. While marriage is a vocation, this week focused mainly on vocations to the priesthood and religious life. While a few dioceses and religious orders are doing well with vocations, most dioceses and religious orders are not. Very few men are entering the priesthood and very few men and women are entering the religious life. Vocation awareness and discerning a vocation begins at home for children. Good, loving, and faithful Catholic parents can have a positive impact on their children regarding their vocation. When parents are open to God’s will for their sons or daughters, they will usually speak positively about a vocation to the priesthood and/or religious life. Parents need to pray daily or frequently for and with their children concerning their vocation. While a mother or father might desire a specific vocation for their son or daughter, hopefully they will be open to whatever God’s will is for their child. The website Vianney Vocations (https://vianneyvocations.com) has some good resources regarding vocations, especially vocations to the priesthood. The website lists ten ways that can help young men to discern if they have a calling to the priesthood. 1. Pray and Listen asking the Lord daily to show you his will. 2. Pray the Rosary asking for the intercession of Mary, Mother of priests. 3. Pray a Holy Hour before the Blessed Sacrament regularly. 4. Attend Mass frequently (daily if possible) and receive Communion. 5. Go to Confession on a consistent basis. 6. Read Scripture and meditate on God’s Word. 7. Talk to a priest you find approachable and ask for spiritual advice. 8. Contact the Vocation Director. 9. Talk to seminarians when they come home for the holidays. 10.Become involved in your parish. Let us all pray daily for more vocations to the priesthood and religious life, especially in the Diocese of Cheyenne. Tuesday, Nov. 11 is Veterans Day. On this day we remember all men and women who have served in the Armed Forces in our country. It is a day to show our appreciation for veterans and thank them for their service. Like many families, I have family members who have served in the military. One of my brothers retired from the Air Force after serving for twenty years. I know that there are people from both parishes who served in the Armed Forces. I would like to thank them, and all men and women, who served our country in the military. May the Lord bless you for your service. Let us also pray that veterans will receive the assistance they need, after their military service has ended, if they need physical, psychological, or emotional support and help. On Friday, Nov. 14, Mass will be at 6:30 am for early risers. I will be driving to Laramie and need to arrive by noon. I pray that everyone will enjoy the nice weather this week as we know that it won’t last forever! God bless and have a blessed week.
In the peace of Christ,
Fr. Glen
